Cygnet Parent/Carer Autism Training

The  Barnet Autism Advisory team are offering  the award winning parent/carer training and support programme for Autism, Cygnets.

the training is for families of children aged 5 to 18

The programme is designed to:

  • increase parents understanding of autistic
  • help parents develop their knowledge on how their child experiences the world and what drives their behaviour
  • guide parents through practical strategies they can use with children
  • direct parents to relevant autism  resources
  • give parents the opportunity to meet with other parents who have had similar experiences and to gain support and learn from each other

This is a core Cygnet programme which is delivered over six, two and a half  hour sessions which sequentially work towards an in depth understanding of  and covers a number of topics.

The training is free of charge but it is essential that parents/carers  register.

1. CONNECT LAUNCH – International Opportunities for Schools

Advance notice for ALL Connect members (Levels 1 & 2).  We are delighted to be hosting the following event with the British Council and which is free to all Connect schools.  Formal invitations and RSVPs will be sent out nearer the date.

  • Friday 19 October, 2018, 9.30am to 12.30pm, British Council Offices, 10 Spring Gardens, London SW1A 2BN

This half day conference will provide an overview of the range of international programmes open to schools including the funded Erasmus+ & new Connecting Classrooms Programmes as well as The International Schools Award. 

It will also provide guidance and strategies for International co-ordinators on developing a whole school approach and the opportunity to hear from schools who are already involved.

Barnet Carers - Voluntary Tutors Wanted

Barnet Carers Centre is urgently looking for tutors on a voluntary basis to support us in tutoring primary young carers (i.e. children that are the main caregiver for a family member) in maths and/or science. Sign up to be a tutor with Barnet Carers Centre and make a difference to a young person’s life.

Improving grades and subject knowledge in the subjects of maths and science, you will build on pupils’ confidence, resilience and study skills, and bring benefits beyond the subject of their tuition including progress to further education, training and employment.

We welcome applications from teachers and retired teachers, teaching assistants, PGCE students, youth workers and/or ‘A’ level students.
