Secure Communication Methods

For Information

It has come to our attention that some schools may not be aware of how best to communicate securely with the Local Authority.  Below is a reminder of the systems available to schools which when used, ensure that Data Protection laws are not breached:

  • The preferred method of communication between schools and the LA is using USO-FX and should be encouraged. Please speak to your school’s IT co-ordinator if you do not have an account
  • If you are one of the few schools that does not have access to the USO-FX system, Encrypt & Send is an alternative method
  • Finally, if both the above methods are unavailable to you, there is a third alternative: USO-FX Invite Files. In order to use this, contact the member of staff that you need to send something to and ask them to send you an invitation from USO-FX.

Please ensure that you and your colleagues do not send any sensitive pupil/parent data via ‘ordinary’ email.

The enclosure section below gives further information on how to use each ‘secure’ system.
